Performance Etiquette
A discussion of performance etiquette will help students know what to expect at the event, and what the artist will be expecting of them. Possible ways to prepare them include discussing the following:

  • There are differences in audience behavior at a rock concert versus a classical concert.
  • The concept of "movements" and "sets" in classical repertoire can help guide students as to when applause is appropriate.

Q & A Session
Help your students prepare for this recital and masterclass by prompting them to come up with questions ahead of time for the artist. Possible question topics could include the following:

  • The music business
  • Technique
  • Performance anxiety
  • How to practice effectively
