This course will focus on the overall production processes surrounding web site design with particular emphasis on design elements involving layout, navigation and interactivity. Students will be introduced to various Adobe software packages. On-line modules developed by the CISCO Academy program will be utilized.

In general, CIS 155 focuses on website production processes with particular emphasis on design elements involving layout, navigation and interactivity. Additionally, Mr. Hoffman will focus on writing good HTML code, with or without the use of advanced design tools. User centered design principles will be stressed to insure web site usability and cross-platform consistency, regardless of the development environment.

The average amount of time students in higher education are expected to spend outside of class is 2:1 or two hours outside of class for every hour in class. Therefore the average student should expect to invest a total of 120 hours to be successful in this 4 credit course.
At or near the end of the course, students will be required to complete one or more evaluations of the instructor, classroom/lab environment, curriculum and instructional materials as requested by Cisco and/or BCC.
There are four components to each student's evaluation. Attendance is graded pass/fail, at the discretion of the instructor. Knowledge Assessments are computer-based tests written and graded by Cisco and Adobe. There are eleven chapter tests a mid-term exam and a cumulative final exam. These tests make up 60% of the course grade. Skills Assessments include labs and the final project and together make up 30% of the course grade. Participation makes up the remaining 10% of the course grade.
Students who complete the course will receive a BCC letter grade based on their course grade as per the following: A=90-100%, B+ =87-89%, B=80-86%, C+ = 77-79%, C=70-76%, D=60-69%, F=59% & below.
The class meets for 4 lecture/presentation hours per week.
