Course Goals
The
following list of course goals will be addressed in the course. These goals are directly related to the
performance objectives, which follow.

Performance Objectives
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will explain when and
how the Internet was created.
Performance will be satisfactory if date and reasons for the
creation are explained and the explanation is consistent with CISCO text.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will cite how a PC is
connected to the Internet. In
addition to the physical connection, software and hardware needs must be
understood. Performance will
be satisfactory if methods are cited and the citation is consistent with
CISCO text.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will list Internet
services, plug‑ins, and applications. Browser software is important to understand (especially
the GUI software).
Performance will be satisfactory if a listing is created, and it is
consistent with the CISCO text.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will apply the basics
of HTML code to prepare a web page containing an image and background
color. Performance will be
satisfactory if HTML code is applied and the web page displays properly
with the image. Students will
also be asked to make presentations on different HTML code. The HTML code must be consistent
with CISCO directions. .
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will identify the
difference between HTML editors, text editor, and utility program. Performance will be satisfactory
if differences are identified and are consistent with CISCO text.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will cite the
different web graphic formats including extensions for sound, audio, and
multimedia. Performance will
be satisfactory if formats are cited and the citation is consistent with
CISCO text chapter 3.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will define what a web
design project is and the importance of client's needs. Performance will be satisfactory
if the definition is consistent with CISCO text chapter 4.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will assess a client's
needs. The steps included
while interviewing a client are important. Performance will be satisfactory if needs are assessed
and the assessment is consistent with CISCO text chapter 4.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will understand the
steps necessary to develop a web proposal. Performance will be satisfactory if proposal steps are
listed are consistent with CISCO text chapter 4.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will list the way web
files are organized.
Performance will be satisfactory if procedure is listed and it is
consistent with CISCO text chapter 4.

will be satisfactory if steps are listed and the listing is consistent

principles. Performance will
be satisfactory if principles are listed and defined and the listing is
consistent with CISCO text chapter 5.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will analyze web
design issues such as browser and monitor inconsistencies, color on the
web, font limitations, file sizes, and download time. Performance will be satisfactory
if issues are analyzed and consistent with CISCO text chapter 5.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will describe
importance of CSS and why they are being used. Performance will be satisfactory if CSS are described
and the description is consistent with CISCO text chapter 5.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will explain interface
design basics such as site branding, navigation scheme, style guide, page
layout and storyboards.
Performance will be satisfactory if basics are explained. The explanation should be
consistent with chapter 6 of CISCO text.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will cite the
importance of client and site identity. Performance will be satisfactory if importance is cited
and the citation is consistent with CISCO text chapter 6.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will address
importance of effective navigation.
Topics such as frames as well as other types of navigation are
important. Performance will
be satisfactory if effective navigation is addressed and consistent with
CISCO text chapter 6.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will explain
accessibility guidelines.
Accessibility concerns include international concerns as well as
individual web pages. Coding
in HTML for accessibility is included. Performance will be satisfactory if guidelines are
explained and the explanation is consistent with CISCO text chapter 7.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will determine the
best media, if any, to use for a web site. Performance will be satisfactory if media are
determined and the determination is consistent with CISCO text chapter 8.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will define different
media types. The different
file extensions must be included.
Performance will be satisfactory if media types are defined and the
definition is consistent with CISCO text chapter 8.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will analyze basics of
interactivity. Interactivity
will include rollover navigation, creating interactive multimedia, working
with forms and feedback methods.
Performance will be satisfactory if interactivity is analyzed and
the analysis is consistent with CISCO text chapter 9.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will examine basics of
site testing. Procedures and
steps for obtaining people in the tests are important issues. Performance will be satisfactory
if site testing basics are consistent with CISCO text chapter 10.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will examine methods
for error checking.
Performance will be satisfactory if error-checking methods are examined
and are consistent with CISCO text chapter 10.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will analyze methods
and procedures for usability testing. Performance will be satisfactory if usability testing
is analyzed and the analysis is consistent with CISCO text chapter 10.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will examine methods
to increase speed optimization.
Performance will be satisfactory if optimization is examined and
the examination is consistent with CISCO text chapter 10.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will describe web site
management and maintenance.
Performance will be satisfactory if management and maintenance is
described and the description is consistent with CISCO text chapter 10.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will examine web site
legal concerns. Performance
will be satisfactory if legal concerns are distinguished and consistent
with CISCO text chapter 11.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will explain the tools
and methods of web site publication.
Performance will be satisfactory if tools and methods of site
publication are explained and the explanation is consistent with CISCO
text chapter 11.
- The student will not be allowed references. The student will describe
marketing and domain registration.
Performance will be satisfactory if registration and marketing are
described and the description is consistent with CISCO text chapter 11.
- The student will be allowed to use the lab manuals as
reference. The student will
complete training labs for GoLive, Live Motion, PhotoShop, Illustrator,
and Premiere. Performance
will be satisfactory if labs are completed with an understanding of the
software. The mechanics in
these labs will be applied to the projects, which will be graded.
- The student will be allowed references. The student will complete major
projects for each of the 5 pieces of software used. A final web page project will also
be completed. Performance
will be satisfactory if projects are completed according to the grading
sheet (passed out along with the project).
