Library of Congress Numbers

What is a Call Number?
A call number tells you where a book or other library resource is located on the shelf. Each item has its own unique call number, usually on the book's spine. The call number also appears in the library's online catalog.

Library of Congress Classification
Our libraries use the Library of Congress classification system which groups books by subject categories, or classes. Classes can be broken down further into subclasses, noted by adding additional letters as well as numbers.
