SCHOLARSHIP TITLE:
Robert L. Schattner Scholarship Endowment

PURPOSE:

The Robert L. Schattner Scholarship Endowment may be used to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in Burlington County College courses, and to fund other projects as agreed upon by the donor, the Foundation, and the College, with particular emphasis on any of the following purposes:

  • A tuition/fee waiver and textbook stipend for a deserving graduate of Maple Shade High School. Such an individual will be selected by the Maple Shade High School Scholarship Committee.
  • Financial assistance for Burlington County College students who are enrolled in Business, Biology, Chemistry, Marketing, Management, Nursing, other Allied Health programs, or Entrepreneurial Studies at BCC. Such assistance will be in the form of a tuition and fee waiver and/or a textbook stipend for deserving students.
  • Cash awards to student valedictorians of Burlington County College’s annual graduating class, who intend to pursue a baccalaureate degree at four-year institutions. Such awards will be made at the discretion of the President of the
    College.
  • Cash awards to employees of Burlington County College for exceptional meritorious service to the College. Such awards will be made at the discretion of the President of the College.
  • Emergency assistance to Burlington County College students who find themselves challenged by dire financial circumstances. Such awards will be at the discretion of the College’s Dean of Institutional Advancement and the Director of Financial Aid.

AMOUNT OF AWARD:
The amount of each award will vary,
depending on its purpose and the amount of
interest available. The principal in the
endowment shall remain intact.
NUMBER OF AWARDS:
The number of awards will vary each year,
depending upon the earnings of the
endowment fund.

APPLICATION AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Student recipients must be residents of Burlington County
  • Student recipients must be enrolled at BCC full-time.
  • Priority for Maple Shade Scholarships will be given to students who from the most recent graduating class at Maple Shade High School.
  • Students must demonstrate active involvement in the high school, college, local community. This involvement may take the form of volunteerism club or organization, student club, or student government.
  • Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 at Burlington College in order to apply for the continuation of their scholarship.

METHOD OF PAYMENT OF AWARD: The Maple Shade and BCC student scholarships will be paid via a tuition/fee waiver and
textbook credit. Employee and valedictorian awards will be made via check.
