ESL 066 ESL Reading I
Upon completion of the course, student will be able to:

  • Define basic vocabulary within the reading context
  • Demonstrate usage of pre reading and reading strategies such as topic sentence and main idea
  • Discuss and write about the topics addressed in the class readings


ESL 067 ESL Reading II
Upon completion of the course, students will have:

  • Define intermediate vocabulary within the reading context,
  • Demonstrate additional pre reading and reading strategies such as author’s purpose and supporting details.
  • Identify relationships among ideas that involve addition and time
  • Sort out facts from opinion
  • Discuss and write about the concepts addressed in the class readings.

ESL 068 ESL Reading III
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Define advanced vocabulary within the reading context
  • Demonstrate additional pre-reading and reading strategies such as outlines and inferences
  • Identfy relationships among ideas that involve examples, comparison/contrast and cause and effect
  • Figure out implied main ideas and central points
  • Discuss and write about the issues addressed in the readings
