ESL
Program
English
as a Second Language program is viewed, in general, as preparation
for college-level courses, and specifically for the successful
completion of English 101, College Composition I, and
English 102, College Composition II.
Life and educational experiences have prepared students differently
for an English language academic experience, providing varying level
of general academic preparedness, native language literacy, written
English skills, spoken English fluency, and personal expectations
and goals. In this program non-native speakers of English concentrate
on language concerns unique to them. This concentration focuses
on success in college and eventually in the job market.
The program has three levels of three focus areas: writing
and grammar; reading and
vocabulary; speech and pronunciation.
All levels are offered at the same time so that students can move
from level to level without disrupting their schedules.
