Attendance Policy

You’ve got to be in class. That’s the bottom line! We only have fifty-six hours of class and we have a lot to learn. English is a complex language, and missing a class leaves a gap, an important building block in learning how to cope with this new language.

Never miss a class because you are not prepared for the class. Come to the class and explain why you are not prepared. Explain how you will correct the problem and submit the necessary work. However, emergencies do happen, and when they do, you must communicate with your instructor as soon as possible by phone or e-mail about making up the missed classwork. So, call or e-mail your instructor to tell why you were not in class. Follow the schedule in the syllabus so that you can make up the missed work.

Cell phones and beepers must be turned off and out of view during class time.
