FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We know that navigating college can sometimes be difficult, so this page is designed to answer common questions that are often posed by our students. If your question is not addressed in the information that follows, please contact EOF Secretary, Luiza at extension 1462.
Q1. When is my EOF application due?
A1. There is no formal due date; however, EOF seats fill up quickly. Therefore, for optimal consideration, please adhere to the following submission dates:
- Fall semester admission: September 1st
- Spring semester admission: February 1st
Q2. What kind of tax documents do I need?
A2.1 – If you filed taxes: Per state guidelines, we require an IRS Tax Return Transcript for your most recently filed taxes. This document can be requested free of charge from the IRS.
A2.2 – If you did NOT file taxes: You must provide the following:
- A W-2 form for each source of employment income
- A signed statement that provides the sources and amounts of the person’s earned income, which is not reflected on the W-2s (can be a completed Financial Aid verification worksheet)
- Proof of non-filing letter, which certifies that the person has not filed and is not required to file a tax return. This letter can be obtained from the IRS by completing form 4506-T at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf
Q3. Do you require an essay with my EOF application?
A3. Yes, an essay is a required component of the EOF application process. Detailed essay instructions can be found on the application itself. Essays are reviewed and scored by the EOF Counselors during the application review process. An application without an essay will be deemed incomplete.
Q4. I was in the EOF program at another college. Do I still need to apply?
A4. Yes. Even though you are considered “EOF” once you gain admission into any EOF program in the state, each program has a limited number of seats. However, you will receive priority over other applicants provided that you left in “good standing” at your former institution.
Q5. If I am accepted into the program, when can I expect to receive my EOF financial aid award?
A5. Your EOF award will be posted to your WebAdvisor account near the end of each semester.
Q6. Do I need to reapply every semester to the EOF program?
A6. No. Once you have been admitted, we will work with you until you graduate from BCC provided that you successfully complete your program requirements each semester. However, you must complete the FAFSA application each year.
Q7. How do I learn the status of my application?
A7. Once we receive your application, we will email you a letter outlining our admissions process. As your application is being processed, we may contact you via phone or email to request missing information or to ask follow-up questions. If you do not meet eligibility criteria, you will receive a letter in the mail explaining the reason for ineligibility. If you meet the eligibility criteria, we will call you in for an interview with the EOF Director.
