American Culinary Federation certification, plus ServeSafe certification testing

 

 

 

 

The new programs in Culinary Arts, Hospitality & Tourism at BCC will offer state-of-the-art preparation to work in fine food establishments and services, including:

  • Restaurants
  • Catering facilities  
  • Cruise lines
  • Personal chef services
  • Bakeries
  • Hotels and resorts
  • Casino restaurants and banquet facilities

Certification

BCC’s programs will be certified by the American Culinary Federation (ACF). In addition, all students will take ServeSafe Certification tests and ACF certification exams.

Students can develop competency in:

  • Professionalism in dress and grooming, attitude, and workplace behavior that reflect standards expected of food service industry professionals.
  • Basic principles of sanitation and safety in a food service operation for safe food handling and protection of the health of the consumer.
  • Mathematical functions related to food service operations.
  • Use of knives, tools and equipment following established safety and sanitation practices and principles of food preparation.
  • Culinary cooking methods and techniques following established procedures to produce a variety of cuisines.
  • Fundamental principles, methods, and techniques of baking.
  • Professional hospitality and service standards.

Degrees and Transfers

As graduates of the region’s premier Culinary Arts, Hospitality & Tourism programs, BCC students will be positioned to earn an AAS or AS degree in ether Culinary Arts or Food Service and Hospitality Management Technology. They will also be eligible to earn a certificate in Cooking & Baking.

As important, CAHT graduates will be eligible for seamless transfer to Drexel University’s prestigious programs in Culinary Arts, Culinary Science and Hospitality Management.
