Burlington County College soccer standouts, Joan Logan and Charlie McAskill, named All-Americans

Pemberton, New Jersey – Burlington County College (BCC) soccer players, Joan Logan, of Jobstown, and Charlie McAskill, of England, are among a handful of freshmen student-athletes in the country to be named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Soccer All-American this year.

McAskill is the second Baron international student to earn the All-American honor in the last two years. Last year, Jack Verth, of Edinburgh, Scotland, became the first Baron to earn the All-American distinction in 17 years.

“To have one, let alone two BCC All-Americans in the last two seasons is a great accomplishment and speaks to the hardworking and talented student athletes we have at BCC,” said Craig Dewar, head coach of the men’s soccer team. “Charlie was a great player for us this season. To come in as a freshman and have such a big impact on the team was fantastic. I am expecting great things from Charlie next season.”

A freshmen defender, McAskill earned a spot on the Third Team of 2014’s Division I Men’s Soccer All-Americans. He was also ranked the third best player in the region.

The men (8-6) finished their regular season in a three-way tie atop the division.

Logan, a freshmen and forward, was among the NJCAA’s Honorable Mentions for 2014 Division I Women’s Soccer All-Americans—an honor most recently bestowed to BCC alum Dawn Dixon in 2011.

Logan was also named the Division I Women’s Soccer Player of the Year and top player in the region.

“Joan has excelled in her first year as a Lady Baron—even setting a new record at the college this year—most number of goals scored in one game, with five,” said Kathleen DeLitta, head coach of the women’s soccer team. “She took the field her freshman year with determination to give her all every chance, and with a large group of extremely talented players returning for 2015, we are looking to go even further next year.”

The Lady Barons ended with a 12-5 record, earning top seed in the Region XIX tournament, and a perfect record against their conference.
