ASL-101 Elementary American Sign Language I 3 cr. (offered
during Fall and Spring)
This course is designed for students with no knowledge of Deaf American culture or its language, American Sign Language (ASL). Training is designed to lay a foundation of expressive and receptive skills through basic linguistic structures and of encrypting skills through parameter (i.e. hand shape, location, movement) analysis of signs. Includes basic statements, questions, classifiers, spatial relationships, time, & number.
Corequisites: ASL-103 Deafness & Culture 3 cr.
