- CPR for the Professional Rescuer Lifeguard Re-certification
Burlington County College offers year round America Red Cross lifeguard training and instructor courses. This training will provide you with what you need to know to respond to aquatic rescues and emergencies. First Aid Safety and CPR for the Professional Rescuer included. AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration, and Preventing Disease Transmission offered as optional modules.
Prerequisites:
- Be 15 years old be the end of the course
- Swim 300 yards continuously using these strokes in the following order:
- 100 yards front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick
- 100 yards breaststroke using pull, kick and glide sequence
- 100 yards either front crawl or breaststroke or a combination of both strokes
- Starting in the water swim 20 yards usuing front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet retrieve a ten pound object, return to the surface, swim
- 20 yards back to the start with the object and exit the water without using steps or ladder, within 1 minute 40 seconds.
- Retrieve a 10 pound object from a depth of 7-10 feet and swim 20 yards holding the object with both hands
For those lifeguards interested in lakefronts and non surf beaches-training in water craft and paddle board rescues
An educational program designed to provide a foundation of aquatic and leadership knowledge, attitudes and skills. The five critical areas covered in Junior Lifeguard includes
Prevention, Fitness, Response, Leadership and Professionalism.
Students are trained to teach and upon successful completion certified to teach the lifeguarding classes.
Students are trained to teach and upon successful completion certified to teach the swim classes.
Students are trained to assist and upon successful completion certified to aide the swim classes.
