Writing Assignments

Papers must be typed, double-spaced and approximately 2 pages in length. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, date, your name, course and section number

Writing Assignment #1

Interpersonal Process Analysis

Select an important interpersonal conversation that you have experienced recently. It must have lasted at least 30 minutes. Analyze how the context, the noise, the people involved, and the relationship between those people affected the communication. Be specific and provide examples from the conversation.

Writing Assignment #2

Nonverbal Communication

Discuss how you typically reveal emotions through nonverbal communication. Include FIVE affect displays you have made in the last couple of days. For each, briefly describe the situation in which the display occurred and state which specific nonverbal cues were used to communicate the emotion.

Writing Assignment #3

Listening

Interview two people whom you consider to be excellent listeners. Ask questions to determine:

· Their secret of effective listening

· Their perception of their own listening ability

· Problems they perceive in poor listeners

· Any advice on how to improve listening skills

Analyze similarities and differences in the responses in essay form.
