Professional Bio
Politics and history have always fascinated me. When I was in high school, I ran for the Board of Education in my town and became the youngest elected official in NJ (at age 18). Although I initially ran for the school board based on my interest in politics, I soon became dedicated to and intrigued by the field of education. I worked in schools in a number of capacities (for example, as a substitute teacher and an instructional assistant) before I decided to pursue my interest in United States history.
While studying US history at Rutgers, I discovered how dynamic the field of history is. I focused my research on pop culture – the images and messages in pop culture, the impact of pop culture, and the reciprocal relationship between society and pop culture in the 20th century United States. While completing my thesis, I became interested in the research process and sought to find a way to help others with their own research. That led me to pursue my MS in Library and Information Science. Beginning in the fall, I will be working as a Media Specialist at Lenape High School and will continue to be an adjunct professor of history at BCC.
