- IPM stands for
Interactive Presentation Manager, and is the trademark for our
recently acquired electronic whiteboards. An electronic whiteboard combines the functionality of a
traditional whiteboard with the power of a PC and projector combo like
a BCC Smart Kart. Using this
combination of equipment allows the whiteboard to function like a
mouse, and allows you to interact with and annotate a variety of
computer applications while retaining the student's focus.
- WebAdvisor for Faculty is a
real-time, web-based interface into BCC's DataTel Student Information
System. It allows faculty to
check their rosters and class schedules from any computer on the
Internet using a standard web browser.
- GroupWise WebAccess
is the web-based interface into BCC's e-mail system. It can be used to send and receive
email with your "@bcc.edu" e-mail account from any computer
on the Internet using a standard web browser. This system became available to all
employees last year.
- The IPSI
software suite is designed to enhance planning, delivering, evaluating
and analyzing instruction. The
IPSI Syllabus Wizard assists in the design of a syllabus by providing
set categories of information which should appear on every syllabus,
providing "boilerplate" text for standard items and more
importantly, assists in organizing and creating Content Goals which
are supported by Performance Objectives. IPSI is a valuable resource for new faculty members, or
those struggling with course level outcomes assessment.
- This session will
demonstrate the use of LCD projection with Microsoft PowerPoint
to make presentations. Additionally, it will be a hands-on workshop on
using basic features of PowerPoint. There will be some time for you to
progress at your own pace in a lab environment, so bring some ideas
for a computer presentation.
- You can use
Microsoft Excel to create an electronic grade book. This workshop will cover some
basics of Excel, and is open to any BCC employee, but the primary
concentration will be on the features that will help faculty members
create a grade book.
- Microsoft Word
comes with several built-in templates and "Wizards." Once such wizard, which comes with
Word but must be installed separately, is the Word Calendar Wizard. Over the years, many BCC faculty
and staff have found the Calendar Wizard to be a useful tool. This workshop will look at Word
templates and wizards with particular emphasis on the Calendar Wizard.
- BCC's WebBoard system is an asynchronous threaded discussion server. This web based discussion system allows a faculty member to extend the classroom outside the walls of the College and facilitate discussions which lead to dynamic and engaging many-to-many interactive learning activities. This session looks at WebBoard basics.
