description: The focus of the course is designed to provide a review of the fundamentals of algebra. Topics include operations with signed numbers, polynomial expressions, rational algebraic expressions, factoring, solving and graphing linear equations, systems of linear equations, quadratic equations, and radicals.
Assignments: Students are required to complete all assignments prior to any test being taken. This includes all assignments given on the internet as well as those in the textbook. All work must be shown in order to get credit for these assignments. The assignments must be turned in and checked by the instructor before the student is permitted to take each corresponding test. The assignments must be either dropped off to the instructor at her office or sent to:

“Tests assigned by my instructor” for each chapter on the site are sample tests, preparing the student for each of the 4 tests, as listed on the syllabus.
Grading
Policy: Grades will be based on 4 tests, the completion of all assignments, and the final exam.
P (passing) Pass all 4 tests with a minimum score of 77% (23 out of 30)
Pass the final exam with a minimum of 70% (21 out of 30)
O(outstanding) Pass all 4 tests with a minimum score of 90%
Pass the final exam with a minimum of 90%
U(unsatisfactory) The full requirements of the course have not been met.
All tests, including the final exam, must be taken in either of the college test centers. They are located in Mt. Laurel (Laurel Hall, room 312), as well as in Pemberton (Parker building, room 428). Other arrangements may be made to take the tests at an instructor-approved test site.
There are many options available for use within the framework of this course:
· A “Pass the Test” Interactive CD-ROM is included with the textbook, providing interactive pretests, chapter tests, section reviews, and InterAct tutorial exercises.
· The Math Tutor Center is free to any student, with tutoring provided via telephone, fax, and e-mail.
· The on-line site of www.coursecompass.com offers students an opportunity for test preparation and a study plan, if needed.
· “Real to Reel” Videotapes are available in either of BCC’s libraries.
· InterAct Math Tutorial Software is available, providing interactive guided solutions to exercises.
· Scheduled question/answer sessions with the instructor will be announced.
Math lab hours are available for extra help both at the Mt. Laurel (library) and Pemberton (Academic #201) campuses. The available times for tutoring will be posted at both sites.
Individual student tutors are also available through Mickey Weller, ext. 7495, free of charge.
