How to Access Blackboard
At Burlington County College

You will not have access to the Blackboard system until at least 1-2 business days after you register for an on-line course, or 1-2 days before the start of the semester, whichever is later. You will not have access to your actual course(s) before the first day of the semester.

Please note that all distance education courses use Blackboard, but only some classroom courses use Blackboard. If you are taking a face-to-face classroom class, please ask your instructor if he or she has already requested a Blackboard course shell before attempting to login.

Blackboard accounts are deleted and re-built periodically. All passwords from Fall 2011 and earlier will be reset after Jan 13, 2012. If this is the first time you are logging in to Blackboard please use your 6-digit birthdate as your default password. Please change your password upon first login, as described below.

Initial Student Login Instructions

Step-by-step Login Procedure

  1. Go to http://bcc.blackboard.com/
    Troubleshooting tip: If you do not see a BCC logo above the username and password box you may be at the wrong site - please try again! Do not bookmark the Blackboard username and password screen unless you follow our special bookmark instructions. Instead, write down the bcc.blackboard.com address or print out this page.

  2. If you receive any security warnings read them carefully and use your best judgement in accepting what makes the most sense to you
    Troubleshooting tip: We strongly recommend that you have and run anti-virus software whenever you are on the Internet. Also, using a compatible or certified web browser will provide the best experience in your online course.

  3. Type your Blackboard User name in the space provided
    Your Blackboard User name is the same as your WebAdvisor User ID and your MyMail Username. For most BCC students this is your first name followed by an "underscore" (underline character) and your last name. For example, a student named John Brown would have a user ID of 'john_brown' (without the quotes).
    Troubleshooting tip: Try visiting the WebAdvisor FAQ page or the MyMail FAQ page for more information on BCC usernames.

  4. Type your Password in the space provided
    Passwords are reset periodically! Your initial Blackboard password is the date-of-birth BCC has on file for you in MMDDYY format with no punctuation and no spaces. For example, a student born on Jan, 1, 2001 would have an initial Password of '010101' (without the quotes) and a student born on November 25, 1976 would have an initial password '112576' (without the quotes).

  5. Click the OK button. You will be taken to the BCC eLearning page
    The first time you log into Blackboard you will use your birthdate as your initial login and you must change your password immediately. This is very important! Changing your Blackboard password does not change your password on other BCC systems. We also recommend that you investigate the "Personal Information" and "Privacy Options" settings available from the My Places area.


  6. Click the My Places link near the top of the screen
     Then click the "Personal Information" link then "Change Password" - enter a new password twice then click the Submit button to create your personal, self-selected password. You will use your own self-selected password for the rest of the semester. Do not forget your self-selected password! On every login thereafter you will be taken directly to your BCC eLearning page.
    Troubleshooting tip: In case you ever forget your password you can have a temporary password sent to your BCC e-mail address by using the "Forgot Your Password?" link from the Blackboard entry page, by using your BCC e-mail address and this link, you can get your password reset 24/7, automatically.

  7. After changing your password, retrun to the BCC eLearning page and click on the course title to enter your course(s)
    Troubleshooting tip: If the semester has not yet begun, or has ended, you will not be able to access any courses.

Primary technical support is provided by your professor. This means that your professor should always be the first person you contact if your are having any problems with your course. If you are having problems with more than one course contact all of your professors! Before contacting your professor, however, please review all of the information on this page, especially the links above. Up to date information on the computing requirements for Blackboard hosted courses is also available on Blackboard's Supported Browsers & Operating Systems page.

The Office of Distance Learning can also be reached by e-mail to dlearn@bcc.edu but please note that only your Professor can make specific course-related decisions regarding class material and grading.

Assistance with BCC systems other than Blackboard (for instance BCC e-mail and BCC WebAdvisor) can be obtained from the Student Information Desk located on the Pemberton Campus in the Student Lounge. Students can access the info desk in person, by e-mail to bccstudent_infodesk@mymail.bcc.edu or by calling extension 1388 at (609) 894-9311 or (856) 222-9311. The Office of Distance Education can not provide assistance with any system except Blackboard.

Blackboard is available for your use 24/7 during the semester except on Fridays between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM each week. The system is sometimes down for scheduled maintenance during those hours.
