How to Access Blackboard
At Burlington County College
You will not have access to the Blackboard system until at least 1-2 business days after you register for an on-line course, or 1-2 days before the start of the semester, whichever is later.
You will not have access to your actual course(s) before the first day of the semester.
Spring 2008 15-week, Spring 2008 7-week I and Spring 2008 Weekend I semester account creation will begin on January 16, 2008 and continue until January 25, 2008. This means that the Blackboard system may be available to you prior to the first day of the semester, so you can verify software compatability, but you will not have access to your course(s) until the semester officially begins on January 18, 2008 or 1-2 business days after you registered, whichever is later!
Login Instructions
It is strongly recommended that you log onto the system and perform a "Browser Check" as soon as possible. It is also recommended that you access your courses as soon as they are available.
See It In Action
For a fully narrated video walk-through of the entire login process visit: http://staff.bcc.edu/distance/student_login.html
The video is less than 10 minutes long and requires that Macromedia Flash be installed on your computer. Written instructions are shown below. You may wish to print out this page for future reference.
Step-by-step Instructions
-
Go to http://blackboard.bcc.edu/
Troubleshooting tip: If the URL above does not work, try going to http://ce6hosting.blackboard.com/ and selecting Burlington County College from the list. Do not bookmark the Blackboard username and password screen. If you wish to bookmark a page, only bookmark the entry page.
-
Click Log in, agree to any security warnings and allow the browser check to run
Troubleshooting tip: We strongly recommend that you perform a manual browser check on your first visit to Blackboard.
-
Type your Blackboard ID in the space provided
Your Blackboard ID is the same as your WebAdvisor username and your MyMail username. For most BCC students this is your first name followed by an "underscore" (underline character) and your last name. For example, a student named John Brown would have a user ID of 'john_brown' (without the quotes).
Troubleshooting tip: Try visiting the WebAdvisor FAQ page or the MyMail FAQ page for more information on BCC usernames.
-
Type your Password in the space provided
Passwords are reset every semester! Your initial password each semester is the date-of-birth BCC has on file for you in MMDDYY format with no punctuation and no spaces. For example, a student born on Jan, 1, 2001 would have an initial Password of '010101' (without the quotes) and a student born on November 25, 1976 would have an initial password '112576' (without the quotes).
Troubleshooting tip: Try visiting the WebAdvisor FAQ page for more information on BCC passwords.
-
Click the OK button. You will be taken to the password change screen or to your myBlackboard page
The first time you log into Blackboard each semester you will use your birthdate and you will be forced to change your password immediately. You will use your own self-selected password for the rest of the semester. Do not forget your self-selected password! On every login thereafter you will be taken directly to your myBlackboard page.
Troubleshooting tip: Be sure to fill in your "Secret Question" and "Answer" combination. In case you ever forget your password you can have a temporary password sent to your BCC e-mail address by using your Question/Answer combination. By using the "Forgot your login information?" link from the Blackboard entry page, along with your BCC e-mail address and your secret question and answer, you can get your password reset 24/7, automatically.
-
Click on the course title to enter a course
Troubleshooting tip: If the semester has not yet begun, or has ended, you will not be able to access any courses.
